taxy is taxes
made by/for people
who hate taxes
Dutch tax,
quietly
handled.
You make things.
Four times a year
the Belastingdienst
wants
five numbers about it.
taxy makes the numbers.
You keep making things.
taxy reads your receipts, keeps your books, and turns every
quarter into the exact numbers the Belastingdienst asks for.
You type them in. Three minutes, four times a year — or longer,
if you want.

THE WHOLE PRODUCT, IN ONE PICTURE — EXAMPLE FIGURES
01DROP
Receipts, invoices, anything with VAT on it — any language, any
currency, clean PDF or sloppy thermal scan, one file or 150 at once. Duplicates
are caught automatically.
02READ
AI extracts amounts, VAT, dates. You approve every line.
03KEEP
Every accepted receipt copies into a dated archive on your Mac —
by year, quarter, and type, plus a searchable PDF backup. Export as CSV or ZIP
for your accountant; nothing is ever auto-deleted, well past the 7-year
bewaarplicht.
04FILE
Five numbers, portal-ready, calculated by taxy, filed by you —
never behind your back.
Four quarter cards, as in the app: Q1 filed, Q2 filed, Q3 next and due 31 October, Q4 not started.
Your income tax
Your income tax,
as the portal asks,
with one proper cheatsheet.
taxy does not file your income tax return —
the portal does, and only you can.
What it gives you is a damn good cheatsheet with the essential stuff:
every number your return needs, already computed,
ready for you to file yourself or hand to your accountant.
taxy adds up your year the moment you open it:
revenue, deductible costs, a profit.
That profit is marked provisional, and stays marked,
until you've answered thirteen calm questions —
did you make the hours, is this your first year, did you buy equipment.
Answer them and the number goes final.
For your accountant: a dossier PDF and an auditfile —
your whole ledger in XAF 4.0,
the standard format accountants already read,
plus audit documents that should make your accountant really happy.
Thirteen answered questions becoming the lines of the income tax return.

The books
Chaos in,
Order out.
Dump in the mess — photos, PDFs, exports from Stripe (payments or
balance), PayPal, Adyen, SumUp, Zettle, Wise, Revolut or Mollie. Books
come out: ordered, in
euros, searchable the way you'd ask ("uber >50",
":missing"). A bad import takes one undo. Everything is kept —
on your Mac: receipts archived, backups integrity-checked. Back up
that Mac the way you'd back up anything you can't replace — taxy
keeps no copy anywhere else. A filed quarter
locks. Permanently.
The shape of it
An F1 engine,
shipped in a Volvo.
Underneath: arithmetic done in whole cents, every number tied to the
article of law it comes from, and the income-tax XBRL checked against the
Belastingdienst's own taxonomy by an independent validator — an engine put
through a recurring three-vendor cold exam, where every finding is reproduced
against the shipped build before it counts. On the surface: one grid, one
amber dot, nothing that shouts.
One honest asterisk: reading a receipt sends that image to
Anthropic's cloud AI — GPS and device data stripped, PDF metadata
stripped, no name and no filename attached. Then everything comes home and
stays on your machine.

The output
Every filing ships
with its own evidence.
The audit PDF is not a summary — it is the paper trail. Every box traces
back to its rubriek, a full reconciliation, cross-checks against your own
data, a VIES check on every EU VAT number involved, a statute index citing
exactly which law backs each number, and a refusal ledger for anything
taxy declined to guess at.
Every PDF regenerates byte-for-byte from the filing snapshot taxy keeps
for the 7-year bewaarplicht — the SHA-256 fingerprint on the page lets you
verify a copy matches. The methodology behind every number sits on that
same page, in plain language.
What it costs

Built to
- Wet OB 1968 — Art. 9, 12, 14, 15, 17a
- SBR NT20 (20251210.a) — VAT-return elements verified live · income-tax XBRL on NT21
- NT20 BR-BD-03.x — 7/9 OB rules enforced
- Byte-deterministic 7-year audit reproducibility
- Integer-cents arithmetic · one round per VAT calc
- WCAG 2.1 AA — automated scans of the main screens, not a full human audit
- Locked by 80+ compliance tests
- 74 golden filing scenarios — zero-variance engine tie-out
- 15+ capabilities adversarially reviewed by three vendors — archived 2026-08 record
Every line above is enforced by a test that fails the build
if it stops being true.
Can & cannot
Zero ambiguity.
Read this
before you trust a number.
taxy CAN
- Read Dutch and foreign receipts (photo or PDF) with AI and pull out the amount, VAT, and date — you check every result before it counts.
- Classify 21% / 9% / 0% VAT and compute every BTW box in exact cents.
- Handle reverse-charge purchases and sales (EU and non-EU services), and validate VAT numbers, including country-code mismatches.
- Convert foreign currency at the official ECB reference rate for that receipt's own date — never a blended average across the quarter.
- Hold your VAT filing while the KOR applies to you, and warn you before your turnover nears the KOR ceiling. taxy does not compute the scheme itself.
- Build your quarterly return as the portal numbers for that quarter, record the filing, and produce an accountant-grade audit PDF.
- taxy does your business in Box 1 — the profit from your work and the deductions that hang off it. Your home, your partner and boxes 2 and 3 stay with your accountant.
- Compute your business income (winst uit onderneming) from your bookkeeping, work out the self-employed deduction (zelfstandigenaftrek), small-scale investment deduction (KIA), and SME profit exemption (MKB-winstvrijstelling) — and tell you plainly when something is out of scope instead of guessing.
- Generate an XBRL file for your income tax profit return (IB aangifte winstgegevens) that follows the Dutch Taxonomy (NT21), with built-in validation checks before export. (This is the income-tax return only — taxy does not yet emit XBRL for the quarterly VAT return; for that it gives you the portal numbers to enter yourself.)
- Export an auditfile — your whole ledger in XAF 4.0, the standard format Dutch accountants and the Belastingdienst read — so handing your books to an accountant is one file, not a folder of screenshots.
- Flag duplicate receipts automatically so you never claim the same expense twice, and tell you when a new version is ready to install.
- Read a transactions CSV you download from Stripe (both the Payments and the Balance export), Mollie, PayPal, Adyen, SumUp, Zettle, Wise or Revolut — it works out which one it is on its own, shows you every row before anything is saved, and skips rows you already imported. (Bank statement CSVs are parked for now — PSP exports only.)
- Read one screenshot or PDF that lists several invoices at once and make each line its own transaction — you see every row before anything is saved, and the source file is archived once, with every row pointing back to it.
- Organize every receipt into a clean, dated archive — copied into folders by year and quarter, named by date, vendor, and amount, with nothing orphaned or duplicated. Chaos in, order out.
- Back up everything — transactions, filings, and every archived receipt file — into one file, with a SHA-256 integrity check per file, so a restore is either complete or refused, never silently partial.
- Keep every already-processed receipt, your full ledger, and your archive fully readable and exportable with zero internet connection.
- Keep everything on your Mac — no account, no sync.
taxy CANNOT
- Give tax advice. taxy computes and informs — it never advises.
- File for you. There is no direct submission — you type the five numbers into the Belastingdienst portal yourself (about 3 minutes).
- Do your full income tax return. taxy computes your business profit (box 1 winst) and the three main deductions, but it does not compute heffingskortingen, box 2 (income from substantial interest), box 3 (savings and investments), or the final tax amount — those are for your accountant or the Belastingdienst portal.
- Decide tricky deduction edge cases (BUA staff benefits, mixed business/private use) — taxy flags these for you or your accountant instead of guessing.
- Read a NEW receipt without an internet connection — extracting one sends the image over the network, through taxy’s own server, to Anthropic’s AI. (Already-processed receipts need no connection at all — see CAN, above.)
- Call an upload anonymous. The image or text is what Claude reads — GPS, device and software metadata are stripped from JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, HEIC and PDF receipts before they leave your Mac, and the filename itself is replaced with a content hash before it's sent, so the real one never travels either. No name or account identifies you to Anthropic. Receipt images are not kept by taxy; Anthropic’s own retention applies. taxy's own server does keep a small, pseudonymous record per extraction — cost, latency, confidence, the app version, a short (16-character) fragment of the file's content hash, and a random per-install ID, never a filename and never your name — to watch for outages, not to store your bookkeeping, and it's deleted automatically after 90 days. But a receipt with your name printed on it is still identifiable by its content, no matter what metadata is gone — so we won't call it anonymous.
- Connect to your bank by itself. taxy reads a CSV you download; it never logs in to your bank and asks for no bank credentials.
- Claim back VAT on money going out of a payment CSV. A payment-processor line says what left and when, never what it was for, and Dutch rules want an invoice before you deduct — so those rows land at €0,00 VAT and you edit them once the invoice is attached.
- Book a refund from a payment CSV. taxy will not guess which sale a refund reverses, so it lists refund rows and leaves them for you to enter as a credit note.
- Book a payout from a sales platform — Bandcamp, Etsy, Spotify, Patreon, YouTube, Apple, Steam and the like. Whether the platform sold in your name or in its own decides the VAT box, taxy cannot read that off the payout, and it will not pick a box on a coin flip — so that quarter is held, with the reason named, until you or your accountant settle it.
- Put a second-hand margin-scheme sale (margeregeling) or a private-use correction in box 1d into a return. taxy recognizes both and stops the filing rather than write a number into the wrong box — those quarters go to your accountant.
- Replace an accountant's judgment — a human accountant review is planned after V1, and taxy says so rather than hiding it.
